Bayan Audio Bayan 7
The Bayan Audio Bayan 7 is a rather strange looking speaker dock that could be very well mistaken for an oven that slides into a wall as opposed to a high end iOS speaker dock, but once you give it a closer look, you start to notice all its details (you’ll be pleased to know that there’s also a black version available).
On its Perspex‘facia’you’ll find a brawny bass subwoofer that also acts as the device’s stand. The rest of the audio is delivered from the two 2.5cm tweeters and twin 5cm full range speakers.
The device has a couple of amplifiers, one of which is for the bass and the other is for middle and high end sounds. Overall, the 5 speakers offer 120W of power, so you don’t have to worry about volume when it comes to this model. The wide selection of drivers also gives it a somewhat wide frequency response.
On the front you’ll also notice a couple of 30 pin dock connectors which support every compatible device apart from the iPad. You can however charge the iPad with the aid of the USB port located on the back of the device, as well as play its sounds by connecting the included 3.5mm AUX cable, that can also be used to connect to any other audio device with a headphone socket, but you won’t be able to use the remote’s iPod controls when using an iPad.

The remote enables you to set the volume as well as adjusting other setting such as bass and tremble. You can also change between Music Mode and Vocal Mode (music mode naturally offers better settings for music while vocal mode is better tuned for spoken word media like audio books and such).
Performance
This speaker dock’s great stereo separation belies the proximity of its speakers even though the audio isn’t as three dimensional as it could be. But where this high end speaker dock truly shows off its greatest quality is in terms of crystal clear audio reproduction.
While audio quality may be excellent, if you’re looking for something with intense, wall trembling bass, you might be a little disappointed. Even if its deep, natural and rich, its bottom end will fail to drown the mix when turned up to a maximum.
Pros
This is one great sounding device, the Bayan Audio Bayan 7 delivering warm, natural audio while sporting a simple yet unique design, and you’re getting more than your money’s worth.
Cons
The only complaint we have regarding this model is that it proved to be quite large and heavy, making it less ideal for small spaces.
Conclusion
We were fairly pleased by this device overall, going as far as to say that it’s maybe one of the best speakers we’ve reviewed. While it may be a bit expensive, the Bayan 7 offers great audio quality and a solid design. Speaking about the unique design however, it may not be for everybody, but it shouldn’t be that important since you’re more likely to care about the sound quality.

I bought one of these last week from HMV and I have to tell you it’s absolutely wonderful. It slots in perfectly under my coffee table and is quite discreet. I disagree with you on the bass, it’s perfect. I wouldn’t want bass to drown music, and I’m into drum and bass and dubstep!! Anyone with any audio knowledge would know that. Can’t fault it. Also very handy that it charges my phone!!

I am glad that you like it AnnaM

I have also picked up a Bayan 7. Am thrilled with it – looks hyper cool in my room. The bass is dandy – haven’t hit up to max yet, as still being well behaved with the neighbours.
